"I can not understand why you want to leave this beautiful country and go back to that gray place you call Kansas dry.
"That's because you have no brain," replied the girl. As sad and gray seems our land, we, the beings of flesh and bone, we prefer to live there than anywhere else, no matter how beautiful it is. There's nothing like your own home.
The Scarecrow sighed.
"Of course I can not understand," he said. If your heads were stuffed with straw, like mine, probably Would you live all in nice places and Kansas would remain empty. It is fortunate for Kansas that you have brains.
