When I considered starting this job, I was fascinated by the stories of Paris and Berlin of the crazy 20, Brassai's images dances of the drag kings of modernity and Le Monocle, by stories about the Harlem of Gladys Bentley, the literary circle of Sylvia Beach, the Upper Room of Natalie Clifford Barney, Djuna Barnes, Romaine Brooks and many more photographs Germaine Krull, Ilse Bing, or Claude Cahun, the photomontages of Hannah Höch, or the films of Leni Riefenstahl.

So I thought why Spain did not have these ancestors rebel against social mandates on the subject of gender and sexuality. Why no one had addressed the issue in depth. And I thought what could be due. Was clear: a civil war and almost forty years of Franco dictatorship had buried their tracks.

But after several years of immersion in archives and newspaper archives, jumped from their shelves stories and images of those ancestors who sought a handful of modern women with names, who courageously defied social impositions series, taking advantage of the global environment interwar period, and the achievements of a nascent feminism.

The work presented here, weaves all these issues around a central axis, the inclusion of many women into the sport, an activity due to their active and public (not to mention the implications of bodily self-modification and self-representation), strengthens their identity disobedience.
